A lot of fun, crafts, creativity, practical events, historical researches… and friendship.
Under the Men’s Shed Program we have opened the Smile Blaenavon Camera & Cinema Club.
Do you like to socialize and take part in communal activities? We are a group of men who like photography and video. We like to learn and teach; we like to share and help everybody (yes, women included)
Based in The Old Post Office Art & Therapy Centre, in Blaenavon, we would like to invite you to take part in this project. In our space, we share our passion for photography and video. We have lots of practical activities, we learn and we teach.
But we do not only like to learn and practice, but we also love to collaborate with our community.
We offer free photography sessions (and the printed copies) for families and individuals with low income.
Personal small start-ups/ businesses can also take advantage of our club and get the photos they need to start promoting their business.
And we need your help to organize very special cinema sessions for elderly people, especially for Alzheimer’s, dementia and Parkinson’s.
As you know, exercising the memory is important. And what will be better than a Vintage Cinema Club? Buster Keaton again on the screen… Flash Gordon and his weekly adventures. The magic of Fred Astair, Ginger Rogers, and more.
We need you to help us to choose the movies, prepare the venue, maybe help to prepare some tea, and then all together we will enjoy the movie.
If you want to know more about any of these opportunities please come to the centre. The admin office is open from Tuesday to Friday 9am to 3pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
